Consent notice
What this is
This notice explains what you’re agreeing to when you tick the consent boxes at sign-up. It’s written for parents and guardians first, because most of the video we handle is of children. Adults signing up for their own video agree to the same things about themselves.
Who can give consent
For a player under 18: only a parent or legal guardian. If you’re a coach, relative or family friend, ask the parent or guardian to open the account. For a player 18 or over: the player themselves.
By ticking the first box you confirm you’re 18 or over, and, if you’re signing up for a child, that you’re their parent or legal guardian.
What “processing the video” means
When you upload a video and tap the player once, our software:
- follows that player through the video using what they’re wearing, their number and their position;
- cuts the moments they were involved in into separate clips and sorts them by what happened;
- blurs the faces of other people whenever they’re large enough to recognise;
- stores the clips, encrypted, in your account until you download them;
- removes your original upload once the clips are ready.
Authorised staff may view the video or clips only to help you or to check the quality of what the software produced.
What we never do
- Ask for, or use, a photo of the player.
- Use faces, or any measurement of a face or body, to identify anyone.
- Label, name or store the other players, officials or spectators.
- Use the video or clips in advertising or marketing, unless you later sign a separate written release for specific clips. You can say no to that and it changes nothing about your account.
- Sell, rent or share the video or your details with anyone you haven’t sent them to.
- Send the clips to any scout, school, club or programme. You decide who gets them.
Your right to upload
By ticking the box you confirm that you filmed the video yourself, or that whoever filmed it has given you the right to use it, and that filming was allowed where it was made. Video copied from streaming services, broadcasts or venue camera systems isn’t yours to upload.
Other people in the video
Almost every video shows other people, and some of them are other children. We blur their faces and never identify them. You’re responsible for filming in line with the rules of the venue, league or event, and with the agreement of others where those rules require it.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time through the contact form. We stop processing, and remove the video and clips from our servers within 30 days. Copies already downloaded by you, or by someone you shared a link with, are outside our control. Withdrawing consent closes the player’s profile; if you have a subscription for that player, it ends at the close of the period you’ve paid for.
The record we keep
We record the date and time you ticked each box, and the version of this notice, the privacy policy and the terms in force at that moment. We keep that record for as long as the law requires us to show consent was given, even after the account is closed.
The boxes, word for word
At sign-up you’ll see these, each separate and none pre-ticked:
- I’m 18 or over / I’m a parent or legal guardian.
- I consent to Orange Slice processing video of me / of my child.
- I’ve read the privacy policy and the terms.
- I have the right to upload the video I send.
- (Optional) Send me product updates, news when new sports launch, and tips.
